Workmanship Warranty

Sons of the Land backs every project with a clear, written workmanship warranty. This document outlines what is covered, what is not, and how material behaviour applies to hand-applied mineral systems.

What is Covered

Sons of the Land provides a workmanship warranty of 36 months from the project handover date — three times the 12-month market norm, because mineral systems are built to outlast paint. It covers:

  • Delamination or adhesion failure caused by improper application technique
  • Significant tonal inconsistency beyond the natural variation inherent to mineral systems
  • Failure of sealing layers applied by Sons of the Land within the project scope
  • Structural cracking directly attributable to our application (not substrate movement)

Claims must be submitted in writing via WhatsApp or email within the warranty period, with photographic evidence.

What is Not Covered

Mineral and hand-applied systems have properties that are material behaviour — not defects. The following are explicitly excluded from our warranty:

Natural variation in tone and texture.
Limewash, Lime Paint, and mineral plasters are hand-applied. Tonal shifts, brush marks, and movement are inherent properties of the material — not defects. Reference images are for directional use only.
Damage caused by third parties.
Any damage occurring post-handover from other contractors, moving furniture, cleaning with abrasive or acidic agents, or renovation works is not covered and will be charged at current rates.
Pre-existing substrate conditions.
Failure caused by existing building leaks, rising damp, substrate cracking, or conditions that were not disclosed or accessible during assessment are outside our scope.
Improper maintenance by the homeowner.
Mineral finishes require specific cleaning protocols. Damage from power washing, harsh detergents, bleach, or unapproved treatments voids the warranty for affected areas.
Unsupported areas.
Scaffolding zones, high-access areas, or surfaces not specified in the original project scope are not covered.

Refund Policy

All projects are strictly non-refundable once surface preparation or application has commenced. Our systems are bespoke, hand-applied, and cannot be reversed without full surface remediation.

We encourage all clients to complete a sampling session and approve a physical sample before work commences. Changes to scope after commencement may incur additional charges.

Maintenance Recommendations

To preserve your mineral finish and maintain warranty validity:

  • Clean with a lightly damp cloth and pH-neutral soap only
  • Avoid abrasive pads, bleach, acidic cleaners, or steam cleaning
  • Do not paint over mineral surfaces with standard latex or acrylic paints without consultation
  • Report any water ingress or damp issues immediately — do not allow standing water near lime surfaces
  • For Lime Paint touch-ups, contact Sons of the Land directly — self-applied repairs will void the warranty for that area
